you have to love these well written pieces of advice, always so subtle, yet well reasoned.

While I have, in fact, won some games with this, there are some good suggestions here. Also some I don't understand - i.e. losing putrefy and mortify (both good instant speed flexible removal) in place of Maelstrom Pulse (a sorcery) and no mention of Vindicate, which is also on-color (and I believe cheaper).

187 creatures especially look like good ideas, thinking I need a sac outlet to maximize exploiting them. Maybe something that sacs for life to offset Chainer? O-stone I have been looking for, but having trouble getting.

I've been pushing victimize lately but it especially in a reanimator strategy it's good.

A little Survival of the Fittest never hurt anyone either.

Aye I forgot vindicate.

I have used both maelstrom pulse and putrefy in my deck for about 50 games. I don't however have putrefy in the deck any more.

My deck has both spawning pit and phyrexian plaguelord, wasn't sure if you wanted a sacrifice outlet.

I hadn't noticed how important it was until last week, when I beat my last opponent in an 8 man game by reanimating his Yosei and sacking it to doomgape, tapping him out and allowing me to hit with teneb, reanimating Yosei...

Spawning pit doesn't seem very strong - have you gotten a lot of use out of it beyond being a sac outlet?

This is exactly why I posted in here - I missed an obvious include that is
A: A treefolk
B: An evil recursion target

Hmmm... Victimize does look appealing - and would make the spawning pit more relevent too. Must get one.

Survival is good times, but I don't think I can get one at a reasonable cost.

Looks like I have a lot of trading to do this Friday...

OK, Teneb is one of my favorite decks, and there's a lot of ways to go with it. That being said, here's a couple of suggestions:
You need to decide if you want to go with the Treefolk theme or not. If you do, change your general to Doran. If you don't, get him and his leafy companions out of here. That goes for changelings too, although I don't see the point of changelings in a Doran deck, either. You're trying to play two very different decks at once, and that never works.

Carnage Altar is way better than Infernal Tribute.

Reanimate is good, Makeshift Mannequin and Miraculous Recovery are better, mostly because they are instants and you don't lose any life.

Doomed Necromancer is excellent. Hell's Caretaker and Apprentice Necromancer are pretty good as well. All are worth playing.

Phyrexian Delver is pretty good. Karmic Guide and Reveillark are better. Again, all are worth playing.

Sorceries that reanimate (Dread Return, Beacon of Unrest, Hymn of Rebirth, Zombify, Ashen Powder, etc) are pretty bad, because someone on the table will always have a Relic of Progenitus or a Necrogenesis or a Withered Wretch on the table to respond with. Unless it's dirt cheap (2 mana or less) or it's an instant, go with something more permanent.

Same goes for your other instants/sorceries: you can probably find permanent, longer-lasting, reusable things to replace them with. For example, instead of reanimator spells, try Oath of Ghouls/Oversold Cemetery/Haunted Crossroads/Genesis. Instead of Moonlight Bargain, try Phyrexian Arena or Necropotence.

I don't think Iona is worth it unless you also run Painter's Servant, but that's not as important.

Some MVP cards in my Teneb deck:
- Grave Pact
- Perilous Forays
- Haunted Crossroads (these three are sick together with any dude)
- Genesis
- Karmic Guide
- Reveillark
- Golgari Grave-Troll
- Avatar of Woe (it always costs me two)
- Archon of Justice
- Mangara of Corondor (amazing with a sacrifice outlet)
- Eternal Witness/Hag Hedge-Mage

Hope this was helpful and not overboard.

The treefolk have been slowly working their way out as I acquire suitable replacements. That said, the Sapling, Timber Protector and Mirror Entity won't be going anywhere. All 3 are useful regardless of a tribal theme.

I'm not seeing why, other than color commitment.

Many of the cards you suggest are excellent, unfortunately, I haven't the funds to order them or people that have them and would be willing to trade them nearby. Grave Pact will probably get stuffed in there soon, Necropotence - not so much.

Infernal Tribute costs BBB, whereas Carnage Altar is totally colorless.
Also, Infernal Tribute doesn't work on tokens, and you generally want to sacrifice tokens to these kinds of effects.

Valid points, however, I have no token generation in this deck, Carnage Altar doesn't work on non-creatures, and Infernal Tribute costs less to activate. I have it for 2 reasons; as a sac outlet to let me recur things like Shriekmaw and Angel of Despair, and as insurance against toilet flush, so less mana to activate means I can draw more in response to a sweeper.

Hmm...you may be correct there. I didn't read Carnage Altar as carefully as I had thought.

This is reaching the point where I feel it's pretty much done. Deck is now nearly de-leafed. Considering swapping out Timber Protector for a Crucible of Worlds, though I like the ability to protect all my creatures from mass removal with Mirror Entity & protector, I think the Eldrazi Monument will be better.
